PAYE68045 - employment maintenance: movements browser: work list - tracing failures

Once the Employment Maintenance forms have been captured on the browser, as part of pre-processing, existing computer systems will try to verify the NINO or temporary reference number on the form.

Where the form being processed is for a new starter and the NINO cannot be verified a temporary reference will be allocated. For all other cases where the NINO or temporary reference cannot be traced a Work List item will be created.

Cases where a temporary reference number has been allocated and there is therefore further action to take will appear on the appropriate Work List and show the temporary reference number. For any other cases where it is necessary to know the temporary reference number allocated you will have to wait until the National Tracing System (NTS) has been updated and to use Function TI.
