PAYE22010 - employer records: trace employer record: function EI


To use COP Function EI you must either

  • Enter ‘EI’ in the FUNCTION field in Prime Format

Or

  • Use the NEXT facility

Formats

There are two formats in this function.

Format 1

You use Format 1 to enter the tracing information. Which fields you complete depends on the information you have available. Treat the screen as being in three parts. You can either

  • Enter tracing details in the NAME, ADDRESS and POSTCODE field

Or

  • Use the DISTNO, EMPREF and AOREF fields

Or

  • Use the SUBSET facility with the REQUESTED field

Do not make entries in the NAME, ADDRESS and POSTCODE field if you have made entries in the DISTNO, EMPREF and AOREF fields and vice versa.

Format 2

This format will show one of the following

  • Up to a maximum of 20 index records matching the tracing details you have entered in Format 1 and a message telling you the number of hits found and which ones are displayed. For details of what each index record contains see PAYE22020
  • The message NUMBER OF HITS = 0
  • The message SEARCH WILL TAKE TOO LONG – PLEASE ENTER

If the computer finds more hits than can be displayed you will see the following message

THERE ARE MORE HITS THAN CAN BE SHOWN. PLEASE………

The computer identifies hits in the following order

  • Current employer record
  • Ceased / cancelled / transferred record
  • Historical records. These are noted EPHISTORICALEP

On this format you can

  • View the index records (hits) matching the tracing details you have entered in Format 1 three at a time

And

  • Change the details you have entered in Format 1 and do a fresh search or series of searches
