Deviated Drilling

Two examples of deviated drilling are:

  1. Where a well is exhausted or dry, part of the existing well structure may be used to drill another well, e.g.
  • Seabed
  • Second well, (lower area of original well. Original Well will be plugged)
  1. Sub-sea templates have been used for development wells (and are beginning to be used in appraisal wells). The template is secured to the sea-bed and connected by pipes to the rig (or platform). From the template several wells can be sunk at varying angles:
