HCOTEG34500 – Relevant Law: Hydrocarbon oil (designated markers) Regulations 1996
For the purposes of the Hydrocarbon Oil Duties Act 1979, Section
24A these are:
Euromarker and 1,4-dihydroxanthraquinone – this is
commonly known as ‘quinizarin’ – used for gas oil
and light furnace fuel marking
and Euromarker and ‘coumarin’ – used for
kerosene marking
in addition, Solvent Red dye is added to Gas oil.
