Setting And Removing Suspension Reasons (Info)

There is an Action Guide for this subject, click on 'Next Page' to access it

There are circumstances where payments to a claimant are suspended, either clerically or automatically. This might be, for example, to prevent further payments being made to the wrong bank account.

Suspension is applied by ‘setting’ a suspension reason. Suspension remains in force whilst there is at least one suspension reason set.

Suspension reasons are removed clerically or automatically when the reason for suspension is no longer valid. For example, suspension may be set clerically to prevent further payment being made to the wrong bank account. When the claimant provides new bank account details, and these are captured and processed as a change of circumstances, the suspension reason is automatically removed.

Once the final suspension reason has been removed payments are re-profiled. Any arrears owed to the claimant are issued immediately and the balance of entitlement is scheduled over the remainder of the award period.

This guidance takes you through the process of setting and removing a suspension reason.
