Relevant Period (Info)

The ‘relevant period’ is whichever of the following periods ends latest

  • The period of 8 weeks beginning on the date on which the claimant is notified in writing that they must provide a bank or building society account details
  • In cases where, within the 8 week period, the claimant
  • Makes a request to you for authority to open an account for which such authority is required

And

  • Provides sufficient information from which you can give that authority. The period of 3 weeks beginning on the date on which you give that authority
  • In cases where the claimant has a reasonable excuse, for example, the claimant has been ill, abroad, passed from one type of account to another. The claimant must have
  • Been unable to take all the necessary steps to obtain a bank or building society account within, whichever ends latest, of the periods above

  • Been unable to notify you of the bank or building society account details within, whichever ends latest, of the periods above. The period ending with the date that the claimant can reasonably be expected to notify you of the bank or building society account details
