To deal with a request for repayment of tax credits repaid by a claimant, consider steps 1 - 5 below. The guide is presented as follows

1If you have received a form TC648 or written correspondence attached marked ‘Repayment of Tax Credits’ from
  • A Tax Credit Office (TCO) Service Team
  • An Enquiry Centre

Or

  • A Contact Centre

Then

  • Go to step 2

2Complete the ‘Instruction to Pay From OAS Account’ referral form with the following
  • Claimant's name
  • Claimant's address
  • Amount of the repayment
  • OAS number, if provided from any previous contact with A & PS Cumbernauld

Note: You can check for this OAS number in Function MAINTAIN HOUSEHOLD NOTES

  • Authorising Officers name
  • Your direct telephone number

And

  • Your signature and today’s date

And then

  • Go to step 3

Note: A supply of the referral form is held on your team

3Send the completed form by internal mail to

A&PS Cumbernauld

4Use Function MAINTAIN HOUSEHOLD NOTES
  • Click on the [OK] button
  • Click on the [Add Note] button
  • Select ‘Payments’ from the Category Filter drop down list

And

  • Enter the following ‘TCMZ Request for rept of money received. Lump sum payment issued of £XXXX XX to (Enter name of recipient)’

And then

  • Go to step 5
5Complete a form TC648 with
  • The claimant’s details
  • The action you have taken
