Issuing A Manual Notice (Info)

There is an Action Guide for this subject, click on 'Next Page' to access it

The following notices can be issued manually

  • An award notice that needs the claimant’s signature
  • An award notice that does not need the claimant’s signature
  • A reminder notice

Or

  • A decision (rejection) notice

If a manual decision notice or an award notice is to be issued and a signature is not required, the notice can be issued without further consideration.

However, where a signature is required, consideration must be given to extending the reminder cycle to ensure

  • Sufficient time is given to the claimant to return the manual award notice if a signature is required
  • The claimant has 14 days in which to return the award notice after a manual reminder notice has been issued
  • That the award is not terminated if there has been a delay in issuing a manual reminder notice

Note: The reminder cycle cannot be extended until 17 calendar days have passed since the computer has issued or attempted to issue an award notice

Addressing a manual notice where a signature is required

Issue either

  • Two copies addressed to the appointee address
  • Two copies addressed to a single claimant at Applicant 1 address

Or

  • Two copies addressed to both claimants at Applicant 1 address

Note: One copy is for the claimant / appointee to keep and one to sign and return

Where a signature is not required, issue one copy to each claimant or their appointee for them to keep.
