Visual Impairment (Info)

There is an Action Guide for this subject, click on 'Next Page' to access it

Claimants who are visually impaired can request that correspondence be sent to them in one of the following formats

  • Braille

  • Large Print

  • Audiotape

  • Floppy Disk

  • CD ROM

You must set the Special Needs signal in Function AMEND APPLICATION and select one of the following options

  • Braille

  • Audio

  • Large Print

Once you have selected an option, notify the Visually Impaired Media Unit (VIMU) of the request. VIMU can then register the claimant on to their database

If you have identified that a manual notice is required in Braille, large print, audiotape, CD Rom or floppy Disk, complete the manual form with form TC648 and send to VIMU

Notes:

  1. If the claimant has requested Floppy Disk or CD ROM, select ‘Audio’ from the Special Needs drop down menu as there are no options available for these. When you notify VIMU of the request, inform them of the format requested by the claimant

  2. If the Special Needs signal is set at ‘Braille’, ‘Audio’ or ‘Large Print’ and the claimant notifies you of a change of address, notify VIMU of the change otherwise correspondence will be sent to the previous address
