An entry will be made on the ‘Verification Failures’ Work List if the computer is unable to automatically match the claimant’s name, NINO and date of birth to a record on HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) frameworks.

To resolve the Applicant Not Matched verification failure, follow the guidance in Applicant Not Matched and Trace Individual For Verification Failures.

It is essential that the operator does not accept a record that does not apply to the claimant because this will corrupt information on personal details held on the HMRC frameworks.

You must check the accuracy of the action taken by the operator to resolve the verification failure, using the information recorded

  • By the operator on a form TC648

If there are any errors you must pass the case back to the operator for their action.
