Bank Accounts

You must check the description field of this guide and make sure that the claimants Bank Account number and Sort Code have been provided in the correct format

If the correct format has been provided, enter the details on to the system following the guidance given in the Input Details Field. All Bank Account details should be entered on to the system in the format of an 8 digit account number and a 6 digit sort code

If the Claimant has provided Bank Account details which do not match the description you must

Contact the Claimant and ask them to obtain the correct Account and Sort Code details from their Bank

If you are

Able to obtain the correct information, enter the revised details on to the system following the guidance given in the Input Details Field

If you are

Unable to obtain the correct details contact the Bank Liaison Team for further guidance

If you are

Still unable to obtain correct account details, you must refer to instruction 26/02 - Dealing with Missing Bank Account Details. (Click on the 'Invalid Bank Accounts' link for the relevant information)

Note: On entering details an alternative Bank name may display. You must refer to guidance regarding sponsor banks further down the page.

Building Society Accounts

These may be supplied in the format of a roll / reference number

You must check the description field of this guide and make sure that the claimants reference/roll number has been provided in the correct format

If the correct format has been provided, enter the details on the system following the guidance given in the Input Details Field

If the Claimant has provided a reference / roll number which does not match the description you must

Contact the Claimant and ask them to obtain the correct reference number and details of the sort code and account number for their Building Society, in order that payments can be made

If you are

Able to obtain the correct information, enter the revised details on to the system following the guidance given in the Input Details Field

If you are

Unable to obtain the correct details contact the Bank Liaison Team for further guidance

If you are

Still unable to obtain correct account details, you must refer to instruction 26/02 - Dealing with Missing Bank Account Details. (Click on the 'Invalid Bank Accounts' link for the relevant information)

Note: On entering details an alternative Bank name may display. You must refer to guidance regarding sponsor banks before proceeding.

Sponsor Banks

In some instances (mainly Building Society Accounts) transactions may be processed using a Sponsor Bank account.

Where appropriate, details of Sponsor Banks, which are used and their account and sort code details are show within the Name Field. These are acceptable for our purposes.

On entering account and sort code details the Sponsor Bank may display.

If details match an entry as listed within this guide, process the claim, do not amend details unless instructed to do so

If details displayed do not match the entry listed you must

Contact the claimant, and

Establish that they have supplied the correct sort code and account number

If you are

Able to obtain the correct information, enter the revised details onto the system following the guidance given in the Input Details Field

If you are

Given the same details contact the Bank Liaison Team for further guidance

If you are

Still unable to obtain correct account details, you must refer to instruction 26/02 - Dealing with Missing Bank Account Details. (Click on the 'Invalid Bank Accounts' link for the relevant information)

You can contact the Bank Liaison Team by telephone during the following times

Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 4.00 pm

Outside of these hours you must fax Bank Liaison Team as per previous guidance. The fax must include

Your name
Your full address
Your extension number
Return fax number

RDC Error message 6021

The RDC error 6021 displays where the bank name and address details have been populated but the branch field is blank.

Since the branch details are not mandatory, you must delete the RDC error from the 'Application Notes' field and proceed with capturing the claim.
