IS

IS stands for Income Support.

It is a benefit administered by the Department for Work and Pensions in Great Britain and the Department for Social Development in Northern Ireland.

It is paid to people who are

• Not in paid work and who are not receiving full time education

Or

• Are working up to 16 hours per week but are on a very low income
