Whenever you need to contact the following for information, you must first try to telephone them
- Employer’s representative
Or
- Employer’s agent
If you are able to contact them by telephone, you must verify that the person represents the employer by asking them to confirm the employer’s PAYE reference number.
If you are unable to contact them by telephone on the first attempt, you must make repeated attempts during the rest of the day.
If at the end of the day you have still not been able to contact the employer by telephone, you must retain the papers on your desk and attempt to contact the employer the following day.
If you cannot contact the employer after two consecutive days, you must send a written enquiry for the information you require using the free format LFC.
Note: When you issue a written enquiry or a reminder to the employer, you must record the action you have taken in Function MAINTAIN HOUSEHOLD NOTES
