Age Related Working Tax Credit Eligibility (Info)
A claimant must be over 25 years of age to be eligible for
Working Tax Credit (
WTC) if they
- Do not have any children
Or
- Are not disabled
Any changes to the date of birth that makes the claimant less than 25 years of age may affect the claimant’s eligibility to WTC.
However, if a young person reaches 16 years of age and has a child, the young person is entitled to make a claim for tax credits.
A claimant will be eligible to a 50+ return to work element if
- They are 50 years of age or more
- They have been in receipt of a qualifying benefit for 6 months or more
And
- They are working 16 hours or more per week
The 50+ return to work element is removed whenever a change to the date of birth makes the claimant less than 50 years of age.
When a claimant is 60 years of age or more, they may be entitled to a Pension Credit ( PC) (formerly known as MIG) payment. Any changes to the date of birth that makes the claimant less than 60 years of age may affect the claimant’s eligibility to WTC.
