Nursery Education Grant (Info)

A Nursery Education Grant has been introduced by the Government to provide free early education places for many 3 year-olds and all 4 year-olds.

The grant is not paid directly to the parent. The local Education Authority pays the grant to the nursery provider for each eligible child.

Any amount paid by a local Education Authority towards the cost of childcare must not be included in the calculation for childcare charges. Claimants can only claim for the costs of childcare they actually pay for themselves.
