Adding A Child (Info)

A claimant may inform you that you will need to add a child to a claim when

  • They have had a baby
  • They have adopted a child

Or

  • A child has joined the family for the first time

Where a child is added to the claim for the first time, for example, the claim was previously Working Tax Credit only, then the main carer recipient must be assigned and the relevant bank account details for that claimant must be recorded where appropriate.

If the child has rejoined the household, for example was previously on the claim but left the household and has now rejoined the household, follow the guidance in Child / Young Person Returning To Household.
