Hover Help (Info)

Hover Help is a brief single line description, shown at the bottom of the screen in each NTC business service function when your mouse pointer rests

• In an input field, (including a group of radio buttons and a list box)

• On an on-screen button

Or

• On an item in the toolbar menu that performs a specific task for the NTC business service function. The normal on-line Windows Help system provides standard help for other toolbar menu items. For example, ‘Edit’, ‘Save’ and so on

The purpose of Hover Help is to outline the type of entry required in the field or the purpose of the on-screen button or toolbar menu item.

Where a button is greyed out it cannot be used to take any action, and no Hover Help is provided for the button.

Examples of Hover Help

Examples of the Hover Help text that you may see are shown below

• For a date input field

‘Enter the date the funding application was received in the format DD-MM-YYYY’

• For a list box field

‘Click here to select the application you want to look at’

• For a check box field

‘Click here only if you have a valid signed application’

• For an on-screen button

‘Click here to display more matching entries’

• For a radio button group

‘Click the button appropriate to the year you want’

• For a toolbar menu item

‘Click here to abandon this function and return to original point of entry’
