To forward date an incorrectly backdated claim, consider steps 1
- 13 below. The guide is presented as follows
| 1 | Use Function VIEW
APPLICATION
- Enter the claimant’s
NINO in the Key Entry Data
screen
- Select the All
checkbox
- Click on the [OK] button
Note: If you are taken to the Select Application
screen, click on the relevant claim you are dealing with to
highlight it and then click on the [OK] button
Then

| 2 | If
- The error message ‘No match found’ displays, go to
step 3
Otherwise
|
| 3 | On the Key Entry Data
screen, click on the [Trace] button. Follow the guidance
in
Trace Individual
- If you trace the individual, click on the [OK] button and then
go to step 4
- If you cannot trace the individual and have no contact
telephone number or address for the claimant
- Disregard the correspondence in confidential waste
- Take no further action

| 4 | Note: Whilst following the guidance in this step,
you
must also follow the guidance in
Identifying A Complex Case
In Function VIEW APPLICATION, on the Application Summary
screen
- If the Complex Case signal is shown or the case is complex
- Refer the case to the European Economic Area (EEA) Team
(This text has been withheld because of exemptions in the
Freedom of Information Act 2000)
- Use Function MAINTAIN WORKLIST to transfer the case to the
appropriate
Management Unit (MU). See the
MU Table for the correct MU
number
- Use Function MAINTAIN HOUSEHOLD NOTES and select the
‘Payments’ category to enter the following
‘TCMZ COMPLEX CASE. Case transferred to European
Economic Area Team’

If the Complex Case signal is not
shown and the case is not complex, go to step 5

| 5 | Note: Before making any changes to the claim, you must
follow the guidance in
Establish If A Change Can
Be Made. This is to confirm if your change(s) can be made
Use Function AMEND EFFECTIVE DATE to forward date the claim.
To do this
- Enter the claimants NINO in the Key Entry Data screen
- Select the All checkbox
- Click on the [OK] button. You will be taken to the Select
Application screen
- Go to step 6

| 6 | On the Select Application
screen
- Click on the claim you wish to forward date to highlight it
- Click on the [OK] button. You will be taken to the Amend
Effective Date screen
- Go to step 7
|
| 7 | On the Amend Effective
Date screen, check the Warnings field and

| 8 | In the Amend Effective
Date field
- Enter the new effective date
- Click on the [Continue] button
Note: If you want to amend the effective date
after you have gone past this screen you will have to cancel out of
the function and re-enter it to enter the correct date
Then

| 9 | If you
- Receive one of the following warning messages
‘Date must not be in the future’
- You have entered a date in the future
- Enter either today’s date or an earlier date
- Click on the [Continue] button
Then
‘An Effective Date in PY cannot be amended to a
date later than 5 April’
- You are not able to forward date a claim from
PY into
CY
- Enter the -new effective date of 5 April
- Click on the [Continue] button
Then
‘Date entered is more than 93 days after the
Application Received Date’
- You are not able to forward date more than 93 days from the
original received date
- Re-enter the new effective date so that it does not exceed the
93 days limit
- Click on the [Continue] button
Then
- Do not receive any of the messages above, go to step 10

| 10 | You will be taken to the
Applicant 1 Details screen
- Keep clicking on the [Continue] button until the [OK] button is
enabled
- Click on the [OK] button. You will be taken to the Amend
Effective Date Finish screen
- Go to step 11

| 11 | On the Amend Effective
Date Finish screen, check your entries and if
- The dates shown are correct, click on the [OK] button and then
go to step 12
- The dates shown are incorrect, click on the [Cancel] button and
then go back to step 5
