Referral To CTFO When A Child Is Removed From The Household - Appeals Officers Action (AG)

To deal with informing a nominated Appeals Officer when appeals action results in the removal of a child from the whole period of an award, consider steps 1 to 4 below

1Use Function VIEW APPLICATION or any clerical records to check the child’s date of birth
  • If the child was born on or after 01/09/2002, go to step 2
  • If the child was born before 01/09/2002, take no further action
2From the guidance you were previously following or from the correspondence you have received from the Appeals Tribunal, has the child been removed from the claim for the whole of the award period
  • Yes go to step 3
  • No, take no further action
3E-mail details of the case to the nominated Appeals Officer in the following way
  • In the e-mail Subject field enter ‘Child removed from award’

Then, in the body of the e-mail enter

  • The claimant’s surname, for example, Claimant’s surname - Jones
  • The claimant’s forename, for example, Claimant’s forename - Stephen
  • The claimant’s NINO, for example, Claimant’s NINO – AB123456C
  • The removed child’s surname, for example, Removed child’s surname - Jones
  • The removed child’s forename, for example, Removed child’s forename - Thomas
  • The removed child’s date of birth, for example, Removed child’s date of birth - 21/08/2004

Then

  • Go to step 4
4Send the e-mail to  (This text has been withheld because of exemptions in the Freedom of Information Act 2000)
  • Delete any copies of the e-mail when you have sent it, that is from your Sent and Deleted items folders
