NIM39310 - National Insurance Numbers (NINOs): Registration of a new NINO: Juvenile Registration: children who are being looked after by Social Services

As the child approaches age 15 years and 9 months their social worker completes form CA3530U on their behalf and sends it to NI Registration section at NICO. NI Registration section will arrange allocation of a NINO and issue of a NINO card to the child. This makes sure the child receives their card at around the same time as those notified through the automatic process. See NIM39305.

To ensure that this method is successful, DWP staff will be proactive in making contact with the social worker on behalf of the child and explaining these procedures. Form CA3530U is obtainable only on a named individual basis from NI Registration section, see NIM39720.
