MLR1PP10650 - Penalty Guidance: The administrative action for suspended penalties

Officers must ensure that the Registration Team are clearly advised of the amount of the penalty that is collectable for DTR purposes. This will not automatically be the same as what is shown on the penalty notice. The penalty notice will show the full penalty including the suspended penalty. The payslip which accompanies the penalty notice must only show the amount which is payable and should not include the suspended penalty.

If a decision is made to recover a suspended penalty, this should normally be included in the new penalty notice and a single payslip for the total of the new penalty and the suspended penalty should be issued. There will be occasions where for clarity separate demand notices and payslips should be issued for the new penalty and the old suspended penalty.
