Insolvency Notification: Recovery Office

Action Sequence

If a Recovery Office receives notification of an insolvency on form INSOL200, the case is made PLA ( INS6108a).

Check the solvency status ( INS6108b) allocated and contact the District Office if the status needs to be changed.

The claim is formulated by ICHU using Function VPPD (View Payment and Posting Details) to obtain details of unpaid COTAX liabilities.

For exceptional cases, for example the total liability exceeds £250,000 see INS2115.

For a COTAX insolvency follow steps 1 to 5 as appropriate below. This is in addition to the guidance at INS2100 onwards.

  1. Make sure you have ownership of the case
  2. Use Function RTPP (Revise Taxpayer Pursuit) to set the PLA ( INS6108c) signal to 'Y'
  3. Use Function VTPR (View Taxpayer) - View Company Details to check that
  • a Solvency Status ( INS6108d) of I or A has been recorded (V applies in voluntary arrangement cases)
  • the value agrees with the information on form INSOL200

  1. Ask the District Office immediately to amend the solvency status if the status is
  • incorrect

or

  • needs revision because the nature of the case changes during the period of the insolvency
