IHTM23119 - Contacting the VOA: sending paper information

Because most communication with the VOA ( IHTM23002) - initial referral of VOA 1 or VOA 2 ( IHTM23041) apart – will be by telephone or e-mail there is little need to send post to the VOA. However, if you do need to do so, you should use the internal post ( IHTM02131) system.

Such correspondence is sent via Accounts Office, Cumbernauld.

Any such post should have the Valuation Office location and code number shown in the address box, with the words ‘via AOC’ beneath them.

You should also show on the correspondence the

• VOA's case number (if known)
• name of the deceased, and
• address of the property (the VOA's cases are identified by the property rather than by name of the deceased).

Should you need to send information to the VOA and have no reference, you must give the address of the property concerned (or the leading one if there are several). Please include the post code, if known – this is the VOA’s primary identifier.
