IHTM18243 - Teamworking with Shares and Assets Valuation: other enquiry and non-enquiry cases

In the case of ’other’ enquiries ( IHTM29023) or where there is no enquiry, issue the Val70 ( IHTM18151) in the normal way.

After 3 months

If an agreed valuation is not reported within 3 months of the date of the initial acknowledgement, SAV will send you a progress report ( IHTM18211). Further reports will be at 3-monthyl intervals.

After 12 months

If the valuation has not been settled after 12 months, seek to conduct a case conference to discuss the present position and how IHT division can help in taking the valuation forward ( IHTM18245).

The length of the case conference will depend on the extent to which any difficulties standing in the way of progressing the case range wider than pure valuation issues. In most cases it will be fairly short but you should prepare a file note of the discussion and send a copy to the Share valuer.

18 months +

Thereafter, review progress by way of telephone discussions or a meeting, at no more than 3 monthly intervals.

  • If the last conference was by telephone, seek to conduct the next one as a face to face meeting.
  • Prepare a note of each case conference & pass a copy to the Valuer.
Co-ordinating case-conferences

If the Valuer is considering the price of shares in more than one company or the value of some other specific asset, it is your responsibility to co-ordinate case conferences with the Valuer(s) dealing with the unlisted shares and the Specialist Valuer.
