IHTM07004 - Post room: summary

The mail received each morning is counted and logged. An initial check is then done to see if any of the mail is recorded delivery and if it can be opened. Any mail ready to be to be opened can then be passed through the opening machine. The post is stamped to show the date of receipt.

Once opened the post is checked on ALF (IHTM03291) for the location and reference number of the file.

All items of post with a valid ALF reference number can be passed to the appropriate section to deal with.
