IHTM32055 - Enquiries: when to complete progress reviews

The first progress review takes place 6 months after the ’enquiry’ ( IHTM29000) is opened and subsequent reviews set at six monthly intervals until the Enquiry is closed. At each review you should consider the progress of all the sub-files that are open at the time of the review.

Reviews are primarily undertaken by the caseworker. But your manager must also see the file at the 12, 24, 30 and 36-month reviews and may ask to see the file at any stage.

There are a series of progress review forms (PR forms) ( IHTM32060) that you must complete when you carry out the reviews. These forms must be kept with the enquiry plan ( IHTM29000) on your file.

For death enquiries the progress reviews are controlled by the Enquiry Reporting System (ERS) ( IHTM29000). The review date is set automatically when the ERS record is created. This reminds caseworkers of the reviews due on their files and provides managers with a method of monitoring the position.

For lifetime and settlement files, ALF ( IHTM03000) should continue to be used to set the progress review dates.

In both cases you should note the progress review dates on the enquiry plan.
