Where the papers received by the VOA ( IHTM23002) are patently
they will return them to you within 2 weeks of receipt with a
memorandum stating the reason for their return.
In other cases the VOA will register the case and approach
the taxpayer directly for the required information. If this is not
received within 4 weeks the VOA will contact you to request that
you try to obtain the required information. Normally they will keep
their file open in the interim.
In each case you should obtain the information requested by
the VOA and forward it to him for attention (attaching the original
papers, if these were previously returned).
