IHTM23113 - Contacting the VOA: accessing information on the e-mail address of the relevant person

Your starting point is the global address book in Outlook. Although this is updated at regular intervals, you will inevitably find from time to time that certain VOA ( IHTM23002) caseworkers will have been omitted from the address list. Also the relevant e-mail addresses may be incorrect. This results in an ‘undelivered’ message being generated.

If you receive an ‘undelivered’ message or you are unable to locate an e-mail address for the appropriate VOA caseworker, there are two options

  1. Try using the ‘Government Secure Intranet’ (GSI). (This text has been withheld because of exemptions in the Freedom of Information Act 2000)A full list of all VOA caseworkers with IHT responsibilities is now available on the IHT Knowledge Tree at address IR Capital Taxes\Operational\IHT\VOAt. The list provides details of each VOA caseworker's GSI address and their direct line telephone number.

The VOA list is also available on the intranet under ‘Inheritance Tax’ then ‘Reference’.
(To send an e-mail to a valuer in the VLA ( IHTM23002) in Northern Ireland, use the address formula – firstname.secondname@dfpni.gsi.gov.uk. (It is hoped that a full reference list of VLA staff will be included on the intranet in due course.))

  1. Contact Our Valuation Office Liaison if a. is not successful. You will then be given a revised point of contact.

Even if you are successful, after the e-mail has been sent you should notify Our Valuation Office Liaison of the name and office of the relevant valuer so that steps can then be taken to rectify the omission/error. Likewise, please notify Our Valuation Office Liaison if you are informed by the VOA that you are not accessible on the IHT system.
