IHTM18151 - Unlisted shares: Val70
There are three types of Val70
- on-screen Val70(death) for all valuations at the date of death for personal estate, interests in unadministered estates and settled property in which the deceased had a beneficial interest in possession.
- on-screen Val70(lifetime) for all valuations of lifetime transfers including non-death immediately chargeable transfers ( IHTM04067).
- yellow paper version Val70(settlements) (IHTM18190) for all TYA and proportionate charges on discretionary trusts ( IHTM42660).
The Val70 supplies Shares and Assets Valuation (SAV) (
IHTM18141) with all the details they
need to commence their investigation and negotiations. It is
important that you convey as much information as possible to SAV to
prevent them from having to check whether the referral is complete,
or raising unnecessary enquiries with the taxpayer.
If you are referring to SAV with a question about
listed shares or securities, you can use either a
Val70 or a separate memo, as long as you provide the relevant
details and copy correspondence.
