IHTM09073 - Negotiating a settlement: negotiating limits
There are no overall negotiating limits for caseworkers but you should follow any restrictions or lines of approach laid down elsewhere in the instructions, for example when dealing with penalties ( IHTM36000). The negotiation tactics you use in a particular case will normally follow discussions with your manager, B2 investigator and, if a specialist technical matter is involved, with TG. TG will be able to advise you on the likely success of litigation and you will need to take this into account when you negotiate.
