IHTM08138 - Closing cases: closing the Compass record

Before the COMPASS ( IHTM31101) record is closed ensure that you have

  • Recorded the yield ( IHTM08215) on the ERS database for death cases, or on Unit 4 for non-death cases ( IHTM08216).
  • recorded the Tax Agreed date on the Case Summary ( IHTM31113) screen. Click on the update button in the Designatory box in the case summary screen, and enter the date that you were satisfied with the information provided and have agreed or accepted the values returned and, if necessary, have issued final calculations

Note 1: of the Date of Receipt ( IHTM31102) has not been entered, enter this date at the same time.

Note 2: if you have re-opened a file where the Date of Receipt and the Tax Agreed has not been previously recorded, you should use the date the IHT400 was originally received and the date the tax was agreed when the file was closed for the first time.

Once the yield has been recorded, select ‘Case Status’ on COMPASS and amend this to ‘Closed’.

Until the COMPASS record is set to ‘Closed’ the account amendment yield will not be recorded. You must record as ‘Compliant’ any changes that have been made as a result of action from this office (as opposed to changes volunteered by the taxpayer).
