IHTM03296 - ALF file location system: file movements

File movements should be recorded on ALF every time the file changes location. If your file is sent to someone else through your registry the movement should be recorded on ALF by registry staff in the normal way. But, if you pass the file directly to another person then it is your responsibility to make sure the file movement is recorded. The same is true if you take a file directly from the racks.

Where a file is to be sent from one office to another (for example, from Nottingham to Edinburgh) the file must be sent via the central registry. They will locate the file to the Edinburgh.
