IHTM03291 - ALF file location system: general
ALF is a computer system used by staff working with Inheritance Tax. It is an acronym for Automated Location of Files. The system:
- provides an index of all Inheritance Tax files and Board Papers (IHTM09313), with a search facility
- records file movements
- displays the current location and status of files
- records the post that has been received
- records the dates for reviewing files and produces lists of files due for review
- provides various management statistics, for example open case counts and old cases lists
This section of guidance only gives a brief outline of the system. Detailed user manuals are available and are given to those closely involved with ALF on a day to day basis.
