Finance lessees: accountancy treatment: introduction

Lessee accounting is a complex subject. It takes up many paragraphs in SSAP21 and the accompanying Guidance Notes. It also commands much coverage in weighty leasing text books. The paragraphs that follow do not attempt to repeat all that detail, merely to explain sufficient to enable you to deal effectively with leasing transactions presented in trading accounts.
