ECH7111 - Commencing the Compliance Check: Obstructive Employer: Employer/Agent Refuses to Attend a Meeting

Where the employer/contractor or agent refuses to attend a meeting or cancels 2 pre- arranged meetings you should

• explain to the employer/contractor why a meeting is preferred,
• how it will assist the compliance check and
• encourage the employer/contractor to reconsider.

If the employer/contractor cannot be contacted by telephone you should

• send a letter.

If the employer, contractor or agent continues to ignore requests for a meeting you should

• report the facts to the senior manager for consideration of formal action per ECH3550 & ECH21135.
