ECH7020 - Commencing the Compliance Check: Preparation Prior to the Visit
Prior to the visit you should prepare yourself for the
appointment with the employer or contractor by
- reviewing the EC SIP ( ECH7001) to
- corroborate the risks identified and
- establish any potential additional risks
- undertaking any further research not provided by RIS for example
- consider requesting electronic Payroll reports

- Business Information Unit (BIU) – available via HMRC Internet pages
- completing the Intervention Plan ECH7022
- briefing colleagues if you are going to be accompanied by them, see ECH7035 & ECH7037
- checking the payment position
- preparing an interview brief by
- referring to the testbank and RAAM (available on LBS site) where appropriate
- tailoring the brief to address the identified risk(s), and
- taking into account the employer/contractor’s trade and associated risks
- checking any other ongoing EC or other compliance activity.
You are responsible for ensuring that the Intervention Plan is kept updated and always reflects the current position.
