ECH3502 - ECUM Duties: Overview
This part of the ECH sets out the management duties particular
to an ECU. Other areas of management are covered in the appropriate
guidance. For example, Management of Sickness Absence is covered in
Fit for Work.
The ECUM
- is responsible for
- management, motivation and development of all the staff in the ECU
- planning the work
- setting the standards and
- recording and reporting results
- will also contribute to the management of the Area as a whole, being part of the wider management team
- will manage the spread of specialist knowledge within the unit so that if a specialist leaves, the team or unit will retain the knowledge
- will provide advice and guidance on high profile and sensitive reviews
- should maintain effective communication with other strands of compliance to
- promote the profile of the unit and
- identify and share best practice.
Contributory Principle
Contributors are entitled to have all NICs recorded on their
personal NI record so that entitlement to future contributory
benefits can be easily determined.
The ECUM should
- ensure that teams understand and uphold the Contributory Principle.
