In deciding whether an applicant has worked or is expected to work 16 hours or more in one of the prescribed weeks, it is the number of hours worked between midnight Saturday to the following midnight Saturday which count. This may be different from the working week or the pay week. A person may fail to satisfy the prescribed weeks test even though they have worked for more than 16 hours in their working week.
Example
A nurse on a shift pattern which includes rest days does not work more than 16 hours from a midnight Saturday to the following midnight Saturday in any of the prescribed weeks. The nurse does not satisfy the prescribed weeks test.
