Legal relations are created if the parties to an agreement intend that the agreement should be binding and of legal effect. This means that the interests of all the parties can be protected by legal action if necessary, such as when a lender asks for a debt to be repaid before the agreed date. It does not mean that the parties have agreed how the contract will be enforced if the debt is not paid back by the agreed date.
