In England and Wales the standard maintenance grant is the
amount set in specific law.
The amount awarded depends on whether
1) the student is a new entrant or existing student (see
DMG39162 and 39160)
the student lives in the parental home or
the student lives elsewhere and is attending a course of study
3.1 ) at the University of London
at an educational establishment within the area made up of the City of London and the Metropolitan Police District or
4) elsewhere
