If the decision maker is satisfied that the reason for reducing
the normal working hours was not to secure or increase entitlement
to WFTC, the normal assessment period will apply.
Note If the reduction in hours was at the request of the
employer, do not use the alternative assessment period. The
decision maker should not seek evidence of a reduction in hours. If
the applicant presents evidence, consider the alternative
assessment period.
Application form completed 14.12.99
Date of application 16.12.99
Week of application 12.12.99 - 18.12.99
Pay-day Wednesday
Earnings details presented for pay-days 3.11.99 - 8.12.99
inclusive, based on hours worked of 16 per week
Normal assessment period 31.10.99 - 11.12.99
The decision maker receives information form the employer
that the applicant worked 30 hours per week but reduced her hours
to 16 on 28.10.99.
If the decision maker used the normal assessment period, the
applicant would receive more WFTC than if using an alternative
assessment period based on 30 hours work per week.
The applicant was unable to satisfy the decision maker that
the hours had not been reduced to increase the amount of the award.
The decision maker can therefore use an alternative assessment
period of 19.9.99 - 30.10.99
