Evidence of income: Changing income to weekly amount

Change any income of the applicant or any member of the family to a weekly amount1. If the period for payment
1) does not exceed a week take the weekly amount as the amount of that payment or
2) exceeds a week, calculate the weekly amount

  • when the period is a month, by multiplying the payment by twelve and dividing the result by 52
  • when the period is three months, by multiplying the payment by four and dividing the result by 52
  • when the period is a year, by dividing the payment by 52
  • for any other period, by multiplying the payment by seven and dividing the result by the number of days in the period it covers.

Round any fraction of a penny to the applicant's advantage.

Example 1

The applicant received £600 a month
£600 x 12 = £7200
£7200/52 = £138.46 a week

Example 2

The applicant received £130 a quarter
£130 x 4 = £520
£520/52 = £10.00 a week

Example 3

The applicant received £500 a year
£500/52 = £9.61 a week

Example 4

The applicant received £120 every 10 days
£120 x 7 = £840
£840/10 = £84 a week
