Polygamous marriages and relationships: applicant's household

Where an applicant or partner is married to two or more members of the `same` household, the applicant's household includes
1) the applicant

and

2) all partners of the applicant

and

3) all persons to whom any partner is married

and

4) any child or young person who is treated as the responsibility of the applicant or any partner (DMG11075)

and

5) any child of a person in 4.
6) The applicant's household should `not` include any other person who is not a member of that household.


Example 1

The applicant is a woman. She is married to one husband who also has another wife, living in the same household. Each wife has two children. The applicant 's household is herself, her husband her husband's other wife and the four children.

Example 2

The applicant is a woman. She was married to one husband who also has a second wife living at a different address. Each woman has two children. The applicant 's household is the applicant, her husband and her two children. The second wife could claim as a lone parent with two children.
