`Regular contact` referred to in DMG11077 and DMG11085 (1.3) is not defined in the regs. The term should be given its normal everyday meaning. Contact does not only mean visiting, it includes letters and telephone calls. Contact should happen at recurring intervals which are evenly spaced or frequent but not casual. Visits made weekly or monthly would be regular contact. Information may also be sought from CBC who will usually have considered the question of regular contact.
