The term unmarried couple means a man and a woman who are not
married to each other but are living together in the same household
as husband and wife.
Note 1 Where one or both members of a couple are under the
age of 16, they cannot be an unmarried couple. This is because the
person under 16 is a child and therefore not a man or a woman.
Note 2 Two people of the same sex cannot be an unmarried
couple even where one of them is a trans-sexual as they are not a
man and a woman.
