Employed in the United Kingdom and abroad

Before an applicant can be treated as being in GB
1) the applicant or partner (WFTC applications)

or

2) the applicant (DPTC applications) must be in remunerative work (DMG12002 onwards) in the UK. It is the work that must be in the UK and not the employer.

Example 1

A person working for a Danish company in Northern Ireland would satisfy the condition.

Example 2

A person whose job involves working temporarily outside the UK, such as someone working on a cross-channel ferry, deep-sea fishing boat or a lorry driver visiting the continent, would satisfy the condition.
