DMBM668620 - CCP fees: County court fees

County court fees

The fees (sometimes referred to within HMRC as costs) that must be paid at various stages of county court proceedings are laid down in the County Court Fees Order 1982 (as amended).

Local offices must not charge solicitors’ or litigant-in-person costs: other organisations invariably include solicitors’ and lawyers’ costs (the expenses of preparing the case) in addition to the fees for the action, with their claim.

Some fees are charged at a fixed rate (for example, on applying for an order to obtain information from a judgment debtor) while others vary according to the amount of the debt (for example, on entering a claim).

A list of the county court fees is given at DMBM668750 onwards.
