DMBM555420 - Tax Credit Overpayments: - Recovery and enforcement in household breakdown cases: Setting the household breakdown signal on IDMS
Setting the household breakdown signal
When the TCO is notified of a HHBD, NTC is updated with the date of the actual breakdown and the HHBD signal is set on the household record. Unfortunately the signal does not later flow across to IDMS.
It is very important therefore that when a joint tax credit overpayment first comes to your attention, you should
- check if the HHBD signal has been set on NTC on the ‘Signals’ screen, accessed via ‘View Overpayment’.
If it has, you should
- set the ‘Household Breakdown’ indicator on IDMS Household Designatory Data.
You should also set the HHBD indicator on IDMS where you become aware of a HHBD case and the HHBD signal is not set on NTC. This will not flow back to NTC. It is not necessary to contact the TCO about this.
NB: You should be alert to the possible change of circumstances involving HHBD on NTC at all times.
