CSLM4001 – background: access to records: introduction
Access to the Student Loans Business Service (SLBS) is controlled
- Centrally, by setting up Organisation Units and allocating the service to the Organisation Unit (OU)
- Locally, by allocating access rights to individual operators within the OU. This is done by allocating user roles
Access to the system
Access to SLBS is through Single Point Sign-on and user roles.
On your Desktop screen
- Select the SP Sign On icon. The SPS Desktop will be displayed
- Select the SLBS folder. The SLBS user roles will be displayed
- Select the user role that you want
You will be taken to the Function Menu, where those functions available under your user role are shown in an alphabetical list. These will be either the first three in the list below (view only) or all four
- LIST EMPLOYMENT FAILURES
- MAINTAIN STUDENT LOAN DETAILS
- SEARCH UNMATCHED POOL
- WORKLISTS
To make your selection from the list either
- Double click on the line showing the function that you want and you will be taken to that function
Or
- Select the line showing the function you want. That line will be highlighted
And then
- Use the [OK] button to be taken to the function
Navigation between functions
Except for the four SLBS functions that are available through
the Function Menu, navigation to functions is by way of buttons
within other functions. This allows for natural progression between
the functions. For example, before you can take any action on a
form P14 you must first select the required taxpayer and
employment, and be satisfied that the P14 to which this leads is
the correct one.
The design of the service allows you to do this
- In the Function Menu
- Select MAINTAIN STUDENT LOAN DETAILS
- In Function LIST TAXPAYER
- After selecting the required taxpayer, use the [Employments] button to go to function LIST EMPLOYMENT
- In Function LIST EMPLOYMENT
- After selecting an employment, use the [P14 Summary] button to go to function P14 SUMMARY
Subject to having the appropriate user role, you can then navigate to two other functions. In Function P14 SUMMARY
- Select the [Details] button to go to Function P14 DETAIL to view details of the selected form P14
- Select the [Search Unmatched Pool] button to go to Function SEARCH UNMATCHED POOL to search for a P14 in the unmatched pool for the relevant tax year
