Legislation concerning the Collection of Student Loans (CSL)
scheme is contained in The Education (Student Loans) (Repayment)
Regulations 2000.
The Department for Innovation Universities & Skills
(DIUS) are responsible for the legislation and for handling queries
specifically about the legislation itself.
This area is intended to refer you to the appropriate
regulation if you are asked for this information as part of a
straightforward query.
If you receive a query that you cannot answer, (perhaps the
definition of a term used in the legislation), or if the query
appears to be of a serious nature, for example, related to a
complaint
- Explain that HMRC are not responsible for the legislation and ask the caller to contact DIUS.
The questions are based on common themes.
It is intended to update this area of the Manual regularly to
take into account new issues or problems.
